June 29, 2003; Seymour, WI - After a full day of rain on Saturday, the weather turned into a perfect night for racing action Sunday at the Seymour Tri Oval Raceway. What do you do when your sponsor charters a bus to watch you race? Lance Arneson answered the correct way with a convincing win in the Street Stock feature.
Will Parker started the feature leading the first three laps before David Zegers took command followed by Troy Wilson, Phil Hiles, Arneson and Charlie Van Ooyen. Zegers opened a lead on the field while Arneson moved into the runner up spot on lap 10. Following a couple cautions, Arneson went to work on the leader and pulled into the lead on lap 11. Once in front, Arneson pulled away to collect his sixth feature win of the year and did his dance in victory lane for his fans. Zegers held on for the runner up finish with Shawn Van Ooyen taking the third place finish. Brian Koch was fourth, Darci Czarapata fifth and Darren Otto sixth. Travis Van Straten pulled into the lead of the IMCA Stock Car main at the start and opened a slight lead while the rest of the field stayed close, but bunched up behind. Brandon Czarapata moved through the traffic into the runner up spot on lap 7 and closed in on the leader, taking the lead two laps later. Czarapata pulled away leaving a tight battle for second. Jamie Colwell, Greg Gretz., Kyle Fredrick, Larry Karcz and Jeremy Christians swapped positions several times running side by side, leaving Czarapata alone in the front of the field. A pair of late race cautions shuffled the lineup and erased the lead Czarapata worked on. With the cars still bunched for second after the restart, Czarapata was able to maintain the lead for his first feature win of the year. Fredrick completed his best run of the year taking the second place finish. Karcz was third with Gretz fourth. Van Straten came back to the front pack to take fifth and Jerry Wilinski rounded out the top six. Chad Wilcox set the pace for the opening two circuits of the Modified main before Scott Mullen pulled into the top spot on lap 3. R.M. Van Pay moved right behind into the second spot on lap 4 and Brian Mullen moved into third on the next lap. Jared Siefert and Danny Deau also stayed with the leaders. Van Pay took over the top spot on lap 6, with Scott taking the top spot back on lap 8. It looked like the entire race would be that way until a caution on lap 11. During the line up, van Pay and Siefert had to make a trip down pit lane, putting Brian Mullen right behind his brother. Deau, Brad Rohloff, Wilcox and Benji LaCrosse were now in line for the lead. On the restart, the brothers pulled away from the field. Brian tried several times to sneak inside in the tri oval, but Scott kept the door shut and went on to win his first feature of the season. Brian settled for the second place finish with LaCrosse taking the third place finish. Deau was fourth. Rohloff, came from the back after winning the consy to take fifth and Dean Maurer was sixth. T.J. White led the way during the first half of the WISSOTA Late Model main despite numerous cautions that kept the field bunched on his rear bumper. Tom Naeyaert, M.J. Hintz and Nick Anvelink set up behind during the runs and after a final caution on lap 10, Anvelink made the move into the top spot and was able to pull away. White held the runner up spot until Hintz moved by on lap 13. Hintz chased the leader to the finish with Anvelink picking up his 4th feature win of the season. It was also the second back to back win for the second generation driver. Hintz took second with White in third. Luke Roffers, A.J. Diemel and Randy Markwardt rounded out the top six. Greg Banker led the first 4 laps of the 4 Banger main before Todd Welsing too charge on lap 5, Marty Vande Hei moved into second 1 lap later and pulled away from the field. Jasper Drengler caught the pair with a couple laps left, but it was Welsing holding on to win his third feature of the year. Vande Hei maintains the point lead with his second place finish. Drengler was third, Banker fourth, Justin Sobieck fifth and Tom Schmidt sixth.
