August
1, 2004; Seymour, WI - Escort limousine presented a great
night of action on a fast track Sunday night at the Seymour Tri Oval Raceway. A storm
front moved in just as the features were taking the track but moved off to the east
allowing 5 fast feature events.
The Streets took off first with three cautions over the first 4 laps. From lap 5
the race stayed green. Phil Hiles moved into the top spot on the restart with Mike
Pierrard staying with the leader as point leader, Darren Otto moved up into third on lap
7. The three staged a tight battle for the lead. Otto hooked up on the outside and ran
side by side for most of the final 7 laps.
Otto held a slight edge for second and moved up to battle Hiles for the top spot. With
2 laps left, Otto moved into the lead and drove off with his third feature win of the
year. Hiles was a close second. Pierrard spun on the final lap which allowed Jeremy
Wiitala to take third over Jamie Van Ooyen. Harley Simon and Kevin Charles round out the
top six.
The Bay-Tek IMCA Stock Cars were next and like the Streets, had a couple cautions in the
first 4 laps, but from lap 5 ran to the finish. Jason Czarapata was the lead from the
second lap and when the green appeared for the restart, took off with Larry Karcz, Jr,
Jeremy Christians, Chris Lange, Kyle Fredrick, Travis Van Straten and Brandon Czarapata
behind.
The lead pack stayed tight throughout the contest with Jason Czarapata able to move
into a slight lead. By the mid point, point leader, Brandon Czarapata was picking his way
to the front and moved into third place. On lap 12, he moved by Christians for the runner
up spot and set out after his cousin. Using the inside line, Brandon moved to the lead on
lap 15 and held on to win his third feature of the season. Jason held off Christians for
the second place finish. Karcz followed in 4th with Fredrick and Van Straten taking the
top six spots.
A field of 22 cars took the track for the Maplewood Shell Late Model feature and the group
clicked of 20 green flag laps. Pete Parker took off from the pole and led the opening lap
before Luke Roffers powered into the top spot and started to pull away from the field.
Troy Springborn and Terry Casey moved up to run with Parker for second as Roffers
continued to pull away.
Over the laps half of the race, lapped traffic started to come into play. Roffers had no
problem working by but the rest of the field had to string out a bit. Roffers looked like
he would win his second straight division feature as he picked up the white flag, but the
car suddenly slowed and Parker took the chance and sped away with his first feature win of
the year here. Casey was the runner up with point leader, Tim Buhler edging Springborn for
third place. Nick Anvelink was fifth and A.J. Diemel sixth. Roffers coasted by in 8th
place. The win by Parker was his 111th career at Seymour.
Joel Schmit led the opening lap of the Budweiser IMCA modified main before Jared Siefert
flew by and started to check out of the field. Eddie Muenster, Mike Klenz and Brad Rohloff
moved up over the next couple laps. Benji LaCrosse was hooked on the outside and moved
into the runner up spot on lap 7, and set out to run down the leader.
By lap 13, Siefert was moving into lapped traffic and on lap 16, got goofed up slightly
in turn one. The brief slow down was enough to allow LaCrosse an opening which he took to
take the lead. LaCrosse then checked out over the final laps to run to his second straight
feature in the non stop race. Siefert took second with Sean Jerovetz winning the battle
for third over Chad Wilcox, Muenster and Mike Wedelstadt.
Kevin Birr, Matt DeWilde and Ben Daoust all lead a lap over the first few laps of the 4
Cylinder main. D.J. Jorgenson took over on lap 6 and led through a couple cautions late in
the race. After a lap 13 caution, point leader, Jasper Drengler, moved into the runner up
spot and hooked up on the outside line to challenge for the lead.
The pair were even at the white flag and over the final lap, Drengler inched ahead. Out
of the tri oval for the final time, Drengler was able to hold the lead to collect his 4th
feature win of the season. Jorgenson was a close second with Tim Jorgenson in third. Eric
Mullen, Matt Oershovich and Matt Gilson round out the top six.
