June
20, 2004; Seymour, WI - Fathers Day
brought out the largest crowd and car counts of the season on a rare sunny Sunday at the
Seymour Tri Oval Raceway.
The Street Stocks started out the feature portion of the program and after a tough
start with several cautions over the first 5 laps, settled into rhythm and clicked off 15
straight. Harley Simon, Mike Pierrard and Darren Otto slowly pulled away from the field
after the final restart and put on a great show for the lead.
After the mid point, Simon and Otto took off in a side by side run to the finish.
Simon was hugging the inside line and Otto was outside. The pair swapped the lead several
times but at the finish line, Simon picked up his first career feature flag. Otto padded
his point lead with a close second place finish. Jeremy Wiitala ended up in third with
Pierrard taking fourth. T.J. White and Jamie Van Ooyen rounded out the top six.
The Bay-Tek IMCA Stock Cars took the track next and ran flag to flag with 19 of the 20
starters finishing the run. Cory Lemirande took the lead with Rod Snellenberger Dylan
Heilmann, Jamie Colwell, Mike Franzke and Derrick Bruechert behind. Snellenberger and
Colwell moved into the top two spots by lap 5 and with Lemirande, pulled away from the
pack.
By lap 10, Snellenberger was running inside and Colwell was outside in a great side by
side battle to the finish. Lemirande dropped back a bit dealing with Brandon Czarapata and
Jeremy Christians when they broke out of the pack.
The lead went back and forth, but with 2 laps remaining, Snellenberger was able to inch
ahead and carry the margin to his first Tri Oval feature of the season. Colwell was ½
length behind. Czarapata and Christians were able to get by Lemirande with Travis Van
Straten rounding out the top six.
The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds would not be shown up, and followed the Stock Cars with
another non stop feature event with 19 cars finishing. Sean Jerovetz led the first 4 laps
before Brian Mullen pulled into the top spot. Danny Deau was in third and the trio pulled
away a bit before Mullen got hooked up and started to pull away from the field by lap 10.
For the rest of the way. Mullen dealt with lapped traffic but cruised to his first Tri
Oval feature win of the season. Jerovetz and Deau stayed tight for the rest of the way
with Deau edging Jerovetz on the final lap for the second place finish. Benji LaCrosse
took fourth from Jared Siefert with 5 laps left and could not catch the battle for second
in time to mount a challenge. Chad Wilcox ran to his best finish so far taking sixth.
The Maplewood Shell WISSOTA Late Models were next and the dry slick track caused some
problems as the race went time limit.
Nick Anvelink took the lead at the start and was followed by Travis Spaulding, Randy
Markwardt, Terry Anvelink, and Mark Mitchell.
Nick was a solid leader throughout the race holding off Spaulding and dad, Terry after
each restart. Gordie Seegert moved into 4th after a lap 11 restart with A.J.
Diemel moving behind. Pete Parker and Tim Buhler dueled to the finish for fifth.
Nick, the defending champion, took his second feature flag of the season with
Spaulding, taking his best finish ever in the division, in second. Terry Anvelink held off
Seegert for third. Parker took fifth ahead of Buhler.
The 4 Cylinders will now be qualifying for the feature through heat races and starting
by average points. Matt Oershovich led the first 3 laps before Ben Daoust took over out of
the tri oval on lap 4. Jasper Drengler made his way from the back of the field and moved
into second on lap 8. 2 laps later, Drengler, powered by on the outside through the tri
oval to take the lead and drive off with his third feature win of the season. Daoust,
Oershovich were next with Eric Mullen taking fourth, Stan Adamski fifth and Matt Maleport
sixth.
