Late Model #32 Terry Anvelink loses the feature race lead to #4 Gordie Seegert, who was
running second in the standings going into the night. For Seegert, it was a case of
winning the battle but not the war, as Diemel moved back through the pack to finish 8th
and clinch his first N.E.W. DIRT
track championship.
BUDWEISER IMCA MOD #03 Brad Rohloff picked up his first feature win of the season and
first at Seymour since May 4, 2003 Sunday night on the final night of racing.
Budweiser IMCA Modified #03 Brad
Rohloff earned the early race lead, but had trouble with #10 Paul Parker for several laps
before finally opening a lead and drove off with his first win of the season and first at
Seymour since May 4, 2003. Parker
ran alone as well to take second.

IMCA STOCK CAR Shawn Kilgore
made his only appearence of the season a good one by winning the feature event, his first
at the Seymour Speedway since August 31, 2003.
#26 Chaz Van Ooyen, Jr. took command
of the IMCA Stock Car feature until #90 Shawn Kilgore was able to slip by into the lead on
a restart and held off the field to pick up the win in his only appearance of the season.
Van Ooyen took his best finish
of the year in second.
STREET STOCK #4 Jerry Kope picked up
his first career Seymour feature win Sunday.

In the Street Stock main event, #4
Jerry Kope and #19h David Hoerning swapped the race lead until finally taking charge and
going home with the win. Hoerning slipped to third in the final laps.

2005 track champion, #75 Matt
Oreskovich grabbed the lead in the 4-Cylinder main and was quickly joined at the front by
#118 Tim Jorgenson and #17 Greg Banker. Banker moved by into the runner up spot on
lap 14 behind Jorgenson and the three ran nose to tail to the finish. Jorgenson grabbed
his fourth straight feature win with
Banker and Oreskovich right behind. |
The Maplewood Shell/ Ponderosa WISSOTA Late Models were the only division running
for points to settle their 2005 chase and 21 cars took the grid for their final feature of
the season.
Terry Anvelink beat pole sitter Ron Berna into the lead at the start and the drama started
on the first lap for the point chase. Point leader, A.J. Diemel, looped his car to bring
out the first of several cautions during the first half of the race and had to restart
from the rear.
Gordie Seegert, second in the standings going into the night, slowly picked his way
through the front of the field and the cautions to take the lead on lap 8 from Anvelink.
Following that final restart, the race stayed green and allowed Seegert to ran away from
the field to win his second straight feature and third for the season. Terry Anvelink and
Berna stayed second and third. Nick Anvelink came from deep in the field to take fourth.
Tim Buhler and Troy Springborn rounded out the top six.
For Seegert, it was a case of winning the battle but not the war, as Diemel moved back
through the pack to finish 8th and clinch his first N.E.W. DIRT track championship.
Chaz Van Ooyen, Jr took command of the IMCA Stock Car feature with Shawn Wagner, Rick
Mahlberg, Mike Franzke and Eugene Gregorich behind. A lap 2 caution bunched the pack for a
quick 14 lap run and a great 5 car run for the lead. Van Ooyen continued to lead the way
with Mahlberg and Wagner staying right with him. Shawn Kilgore, Rick Dix and Larry Karcz,
Jr worked into the top five on lap 9 and joined the leaders. The action at the front was
tight with Kilgore and Karcz making a run at the leader when a final caution appeared on
lap 16 setting up a 4 lap run to the finish.
Kilgore was able to slip by into the lead on the restart and held off the field to pick up
the win in his only appearance of the season. Van Ooyen took his best finish of the year
in second with Karcz in third. Mahlberg, Wagner and Rod Snellenberger rounded out the top
six.
Tom Long took charge of the Street Stock main at the start with Brian Kock, Bill Kelsey,
Dave Drawenek Jerry Kope and David Hoerning lining up behind. A series of cautions slowed
the race during the first 8 laps Long was still leading the way after the lap 8 restart
but caused a final slow down by spinning in turn 2.
On the restart, Hoerning was setting the pace with Kope, Kock, Rick Long, and Joe Wittmann
behind. Kope was able to use the inside line to quickly take over the lead and held off
Hoerning and Kock to claim his first ever feature win here.
Kock clipped Hoerning at the finish for second. Jasper Drengler, Jeremy Wiitala and
Wittmann made up the top six.
The Budweiser IMCA Mods had a strong 32 car field to do battle to make the 20 car main.
Jerry Wilinski took the lead at the start, but like the other divisions, had several
caution s over the first couple laps. When racing took the green for good on lap 4. Brad
Rohloff was the leader with Paul Parker, Wilinski, Jarrod Anvelink, and Tim Van De Hei
behind.
Rohloff had trouble with Parker for several laps before finally opening a lead and drove
off with his first win of the season and first at Seymour since May 4, 03.. Parker ran
alone as well to take second. Van De Hei worked through traffic throughout the race to
finish third, Anvelink ran to his best finish of the season taking fourth. Wilinski took
fifth and Brian Drexler rounded out the top six.
2005 track champion, Matt Oreskovich grabbed the lead in the 4 Cylinder main and was
quickly joined at the front by Tim Jorgenson and Greg Banker. These three shared all the
feature wins during the season and it seemed fitting that they would be at the front for
the final feature of the year. Oreskovich led through lap 8 with Jorgenson taking over.
Banker moved by into the runner up spot on lap 14 and the three ran nose to tail to the
finish. Jorgenson took his fourth straight feature win with Banker and Oreskovich right
behind. Kevin Birr made a late race run at the leaders but settled for fourth. D.J.
Jorgenson and Tony Everard rounded out the top six.
This was the final race for the first season on the new 1/3 mile oval at the Seymour
Speedway. N.E.W. DIRT would like to THANK all of the fans, driver and crews for their
strong support though out the season. A great deal was accomplished and more needs to be
completed, but all should make for a great 2006 season.
