June
19, 2005; Seymour, WI - After a less than perfect start to the
2005 season at the new 1/3 mile clay oval at the Seymour Speedway, everything clicked
Sunday night for a great show throughout.
The Street Stocks started the feature portion of the show with Troy Wilson
setting the pace for the opening lap. Mike Pierrard took over the lead on lap 2 and
started to pull away from the field. A couple cautions kept the race bunched to lap 9.
Pierrard was followed by Joe Johnson, Derek Lecker, Mitch Landvick, Tony Peebles and Fred
Davister. Davister moved into the runner up spot on lap 10 and 2 laps later, Jeremy
Wiitila, moved into third. The trio pulled ahead of the pack with Pierrard and Davister
running inside and Wiitila hooking up on the outside.
A final caution on lap 17 set up a 3 lap dash. Wiitila continued his charge outside and on
the final lap, was able to hold the outside line and nip Pierrard at the finish line by
inches for his first feature win of the season. Davister crossed in third but was
DQd after, putting David Hoerning in third, Peebles fourth, Joe Wittmann fifth and
Harley Simon sixth.
Brandon Czarapata started the IMCA Stock Car main on the pole and quickly opened a lead
over the field. Darren Otto, Jeff Vlies, Jason Czarapata, Kyle Fredrick and Chaz Van Ooyen
behind, battling for second.
A lone caution bunched the field on lap 7 and Jason Czarapata pulled into the runner up
spot after the restart. Brandon held the lead hugging the inside and Jason challenged
running the high outside line. Brandon held a lead until the final six laps when Jason was
able to pull even through the turns, with Brandon pulling ahead on the straights. As the
field too the white, Brandon was still in command, until a slip in turn 2, gave Jason the
slight break he needed to pull ahead and win his first feature here sine June 1 of 2003.
Brandon was second followed by Larry Karcz, Jr, Otto, Jamie Colwell and Rod Snellenberger.
Three cautions kept the first 7 laps of the Budweiser IMCA Modified feature bunched. Paul
Parker set the pace for the opening 2 circuits with Jared Siefert taking control on lap 3.
Siefert held the lead with the pack behind until the lap 7 caution. After the restart,
Siefert was able to open a lead running the outside line, Chad Wilcox, Parker, Dan Deau,
Ed Stehula, Jeremy Hedrick and Chris Engels were right behind. Siefert took the white a
couple lengths ahead of Wilcox but a final caution ended the run a lap early with Siefert
claiming his first feature win of the season here. Wilcox finished second but was lite at
the scale after the race, moving Parker into second, Deau, Engles, Jarrod Anvelink and
Stehula rounded out the top six.
Nick Anvelink sat on the pole and established the early lead in the Maplewood Shell/
Ponderosa WISSOTA Late Model feature. Pete Parker, A.,J. Diemel, Troy Springborn, Gordie
Seegert and Luke Roffers were right behind. A lone caution on lap 4 bunched the field with
Anvelink again pulling into the lead. Diemel was able to get by Parker on the restart and
set out to run down Anvelink while the battle for third remained close.
Anvelink, running the outside and Diemel, taking the low line, pulled away from the pack.
Diemel was stronger through the turns, and Anvelink was quicker off. The pair swapped
lanes several times and continued their lead battle to the finish. Over the final four
laps, Diemel was scored as the leader a couple time and was leading entering the final
lap. They were side by side again through the lap and out of the final turn a determined
sprint to the checker gave Anvelink a slight edge to capture his first feature win of the
season here. Diemel was inches back in second with Springborn taking third. Parker,
Roffers and Seegert ran a tight battle from the restart on lap 4 and finished that way to
round out the top six.
Matt Gilson set the pace for the first 3 laps of the 4 Cylinder feature before Matt
Oershovich pulled into he top spot on lap 4. A couple cautions in the mid section of the
race kept the field bunched with Matt Maleport moving into second on lap 6 and a couple
laps later held the lead briefly. Oershovich re took the top spot and over the final 6
laps, was able to open a lead, leaving the battle for the runner up finish..
The win was the second straight for Oershovich, Tim Jorgenson took second with Kevin Birr
third, Jeff Kropp fourth, Jeremy Arneson fifth and Gilson rounding out the top six.
N.E.W. DIRT would like to THANK all of the fans, drivers and crews for their strong
support though the first few weeks. Racing continues through Labor Day every Sunday night
at 5 PM.
