July
31, 2005; Seymour, WI - A little sticky , but otherwise a nice
night for racing at the Seymour Speedway. With 114 cars running a fast paced show on
Kelsey Coatings night.

Navarino young gun #15
Nick Anvelink grabbed the Maplewood Shell/Ponderosa WISSOTA LM feature lead at the start
with #58 A.J. Diemel, also of Navarino, hot on
his tail as the pair pulled away early on in the main event.
#57 Mark Mitchell won his heat race
for his first checker this season in WISSOTA Late Model action.
Chad Wilcox walked off with his first career Seymour feature win after taking the IMCA
Modified main event.

Budweiser IMCA Modified main feature
winner #34 Chad Wilcox, Pulaski, took command in the early going of the 20-lap main, but
it was pressure from drivers like #8d Brian Drexler, Oshkosh, that kept the crowd on the
edge of their seats!
Jay Crichton of Lakeville, IL captured a checker in his IMCA MNodified heat race Sunday
night.

#36 Larry Karcz, Jr won a hard fought IMCA Stock Car main event, his first at Seymour
since May 18, 2003.
IMCA Stock Car #36 Larry Karcz, Jr., Pulaski, held off #68 Jamie Colwell, Greenleaf, and
picked up the checkered.
Street Stock 20-lap Feature winner
#17s Harley Simon, Seymour, hooked up with #8 Alan Schlueter, Pulaski for much of the race
Sunday night with Simon getting the
edge. Schlueter finished third.
Feature winner #75 Matt Oreskovich mastered the outside groove around #8 Tony Everard in
Sundays 20-lap feature event. |
Aaron Melchert led the Street Stock feature until causing a caution on lap 5.
Bill Kelsey inherited the top spot and had to deal with Alan Schluetter and Mike Woodke
with Harley Simon entering the front battle by lap 9. Kelsey, son of the nights sponsor,
was running strong at the front looking for his first career feature win when his car
suddenly burst into a cloud of smoke, forcing him out of the race on lap 11, turning the
lead over to Simon.
A pair of late race cautions set up a 5 lap dash, with Simon able to hold off Woodke
and Schluetter for his second feature win of the season. Rick Naparalla scored a 4th
place finish with point leader, Jeremy Wiitala, working back from deep in the field early
in the race to cross in fifth.. Derek Lecker rounded out the top six.
Nathan Persha started the IMCA Stock Car main on the pole and led the opening 3
circuits before Darren Otto took charge for a couple laps. Jesse Colwell pulled into the
lead on lap 6, bringing Larry Karcz, Jr along into second. Kyle Fredrick and Jamie Colwell
also joined the lead pack by mid race.
Karcz continued his trek to the front, taking the outside line into the lead on lap 8.
A scary moment on lap 13, when Jesse Colwell, had the transmission in his car explode
in a ball of fire out of turn 2. The entire unit disintegrated and puled completely out of
the car, leaving the back chute littered with pieces. Colwell pulled the car off the track
in turn three and four with safety crews right on the spot. He was not injured but the car
was left with a gaping hole in the floor.
Fredrick, Jamie Colwell, point leader Jason Czarapata, Rod Snellenberger and Otto were
lined up behind Karcz for the restart.
Karcz had his hands full for the rest of the race, with a late caution setting up a 2
lap dash. Karcz picked up his first checker here since May 18, 2003 with Colwell ending up
second. Snellenberger was third with Fredrick, Czarapata and Otto rounding out the top
six.
Tim Van De Hei led the opening lap of the Budweiser IMCA Modified main with Chad Wilcox
taking command on the second. Paul Parker, Brian Drexler, Art Siefert and Jay Crichton
were tight on the leader. Parker took the lead briefly after a lap 5 restart, but Wilcox
remained the leader. A final caution at mid race still had a tight race for the lead
between the six top runners.
Drexler moved into the runner up spot on lap 14 with Jared Siefert moving into third
one lap later. The pair hounded Wilcox to the finish but he was able to hold off the
charges to collect his first ever N.E.W. DIRT feature win. Drexler held off Siefert for
the second place finish. Sieferts third place run moves his into the point lead hit
season. Parker placed 4th with Van De Hei and Danny Deau rounding out the top
six.
Nick Anvelink grabbed the Maplewood Shell/Ponderosa WISSOTA LM feature lead at the
start with A.J. Diemel taking second. The pair pulled away early with Diemel trying to get
an edge on the outside. A mid race caution bunched the field on the leaders, with Luke
Roffers, Gordie Seegert, Mark Mitchell and Terry Anvelink now right behind. Anvelink and
Diemel again pulled away on the restart, with Anvelink holding off Diemel for his second
feature win of the year. Seegert took the third place finish with Roffers taking 4th.
Mitchell an Anvelink round out the top six.
Matt Maleport took control of the 4 Cylinder main pulling to a huge lead over the first
half of the race. A lap 10 caution spelled disaster as Maleports car died during the
caution, turning the top spot over to point leader, Matt Oreskovich. Oreskovich led the
rest of the way for his 5th win out of 6 this season. Greg Banker chased him to
the finish with Kevin Birr taking 3rd, Brian Johnson 4th, Joe
Schwister 5th and Matt Gilson rounding out the top six.
Next week, Powder Puff races will close out the nights activities.
