Seymour Speedway Opens Memorial Day Weekend!

By Dave Panske

Thursday, May 25, 2006, Seymour, WI - N.E.W. DIRT is ready to open the doors for the 2006 season at the Seymour Speedway.

After all of the rain the past couple of weeks, the track is set to host a full 5 division program Sunday night, May 28, with racing starting at 5 PM.

The WISSOTA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds and Stock Cars, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders will take to the fast 1/3 mile oval for the first time this season.

The track was holding up the start of the 23rd straight season with a problem through the second turn of the reshaped oval this spring. Despite a great effort, the track remained soft and driver safety and quality of the show for the fans delayed the start. After the May 21st program was postponed, the entire turn was dug out on Monday and the problem was found. Over 35 feet of drain tile had collapsed and plugged. On Tuesday, the tile was replaced and the track laid back together. Significant drying has taken place even with the recent rain, and the club feels the track will now hold up under the stress of the big Sunday night programs.

The opener will be part of the big Memorial Day weekend and weather is supposed to be perfect.

The grandstand will open at 3:30 with racing starting at 5 PM.

N.E.W. DIRT would like to THANK everyone that has helped sort the track out and extends an invitation to everyone to join us Sunday night at the Seymour Speedway.
