August 5, 2007;
Seymour, WI - An iffy day turned into a
great night of racing at the Seymour Speedway Sunday. A total of 122
cars competed on a beautiful track.
The Street Stocks took the track for their feature with Mitch
Landvick taking charge on the opening lap. Several cautions over the
first 7 laps kept movement to a minimum in the pack. With the green
out for good on lap 8, things heated up at the front. Landvick was
still in control with David Hoerning and Todd Everard joining him.

The trio was able to pull away from the pack with Horning
running inside and Everard outside on Landvicks bumper. On lap 11,
Everard was able to pull off a move between the others and moved to
the inside of Landvick. The pair swapped the lead over the final
laps with Horning running and waiting for a mistake right behind.
Everard was able to pull into the top spot on his own for a couple
laps but with 3 laps left, Landvick again powered alongside as the
white flag appeared. In a drag race over the final lap. Landvick
caught the outside line just right out of the final turn to claim
his first feature of the season with Everard next door and Horning
right behind. Jeremy Wiitala worked through the field to place 4th
with Paul White in 5th and Mert Summers in 6th. The finish by
Wiitala moves him into the division point lead with Rod Solem also
moving into second after Harley Simon dropped out of the race with
mechanical problems.
Greg Gutt opened the Tri County Heating IMCA Stock Car main leading
the first lap before Matt Theys took over for 2 laps. Jesse Colwell
had his chance at the lead on lap 4 with Shawn Wagner finally
settling into the top spot on lap 5. Colwell, Kyle Wanner, Larry
Karcz, Jr, point leader, Rod Snellenberger and Nathan Persha were
right behind when the caution appeared on lap 9. Wagner was still in
control with the pack bunched behind running hard for position.
Wagner was holding the lead with Karcz and Wanner right behind. Kyle
Frederick started the race in the 18th pot and was hooked on the
outside and moved into the 4th spot on lap 11. Frederick continued
his charge to the front and passed Wagner after a caution on lap 13.
A final caution on lap 15 gave the field a final shot at the leader
but Frederick opened a lead aver the final laps to win his second
feature of the season. Karcz held off Wanner for the runner up spot
with Wagner taking fourth. Snellenberger and Colwell rounded out the
top six.
The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds were up next and clicked off 20
straight laps. Kyle Kudik led the opening lap with Paul Parker
taking charge on lap 2 and pulled away from the field. Kudick, Chad
Wilcox, Jarrod Anvelink, Mike Knapp and Jason Czarapata were in line
behind. Parker continued to pull away from the field and by the mid
point of the race the cars behind were starting to close in on one
another. Benji LaCrosse, point leader Jared Siefert and Tim Van De
Hei joined the lead pack over the final 10 laps.
Parker cruised to his division leading third feature win of the
season with the order behind not decided until the finish line.
LaCrosse made a dash over the final 4 laps and moved from 4th to nip
Kudik at the line for the runner up finish. Wilcox finished 4th with
Anvelink and Siefert rounding out the top 6.
It took a couple tried to get the Late Model main underway but then
they also ran a flag to flag event. Nick Anvelink best Pete Parker
and Terry Anvelink to the lead at the start and never looked back as
he ran away for his second feature win of the year. Parker ran in
second the entire race with Troy Springborn taking third over Terry
Anvelink. Justin Hirt and Craig Schueffner rounded out the top six.
The Sound Check 4 Cylinder event took a couple tries to get going
but also ran flag to flag once everyone settled down.
Jessie Ness took the lead at the start and was followed by Jason
Cornelius, Logan Sobieck, Mark Gerrits, and Andy Kleczka. Kleczka
moved into the runner up spot by lap 8 and moved outside of the
leader for several laps before dropping in behind as R.J. Liegeois
joined the lead pack. During the mid point of the race, Ness was
able to open a lead as the pack battled behind. Over the final 5
laps, things tightened up at the front as lapped traffic came into
play. Ness lost the lead having to work through traffic and it
allowed
Kleczka another shot at the lead. Kleczka again pulled alongside and
was the leader as the white flag appeared. Ness did not give in and
the pair wove through traffic on the final lap. Ness was able to get
a clear track out of the final turn and won her first feature event
by a half car length over Kleczka. Liegeois was third with Cornelius
taking fourth. Ralph Liegeois and J.J. Anderson rounded out the top
six. Ness becomes the first women to ever win a feature for N.E.W.
DIRT.
