Seymour, WI - It was a record setting night
at the Seymour Speedway Sunday night. The 3rd largest N.EW. DIRT
crowd watched a record 173 cars run 316 laps for a record weekly
purse.
The track was smooth and fast all night long and produce 5 first
time feature winners this season.
The Street Stocks brought out a 20 flag salute to our
veterans to start their feature event.
Jeremy Hiles led the way for 2 laps before bringing out the first
caution after hitting the turn 3 wall. Harley Simon inherited the
lead and had the field right behind thanks to several cautions in
the race.
Todd Everard, Mike Rauchle, Jerry Winkler, Tim Czarneski and Darren
Otto were right behind. A final caution appeared on lap 12 and
caused a time limit event. Simon was still leading but Czarneski
flew by on the outside in turn one on the restart to be scored as
the leader on the white flag. Winkler snuck by on the inside in turn
1 and slipped inside of the leader and took the checker for his
first ever Seymour feature win. Simon retook the runner up spot out
of the final turn with Jerry Kope coming in third. Point leader, Rod
Solem placed fourth with Otto and Paul White rounding out the top
six.
Troy Jerovetz jumped off the outside pole into the lead of the Tri
County Heating IMCA Stock Car main and started to open a lead over
the first half of the race while, Brian Ambrosius, Barry Van Straten,
John Heinz, Charlie Kroll and Rod Snellenberger worked through the
field behind. Jerovetz was comfortable in front when a caution on
lap 16 set up a 4 lap dash. Point leader, Snellenberger, Shawn
Wagner, Greg Gretz, Kroll and Kyle Fredrick were now in line to
battle for the win. With the green out for the final time, Jerovetz
caught a slight break when Wagner, Snellenberger and Gretz ran 3
wide for the runner up spot for a couple laps, allowing Jerovetz to
get a slight cushion. He held off Wagner at the line for his first
career Seymour feature win. Fredrick came through the consy and
finished third in the feature with Gretz, Snellenberger and Kroll
rounding out the top six.
With a field of 49 Budweiser IMCA Modifieds checked in, it was tough
to make the feature. After 3 consys, a field of 24 took the green
for their feature event. M.J. Hintz took the lead for the first 2
laps before Paul Parker flew by on the outside in turn 3. Parker
settled into the lead with the battle staying right behind for the
entire race. Danny Deau, Jeremie Hedrick, Eric Scribner, Russ
Huxford, and Eddie Muenster went at it until the mid point of the
race when Benji LaCrosse, Jared Siefert and Jerry Wilinski made
their was from the back of the field into the lead pack.
Several cautions over the final laps kept everything tight with
Parker hounded the entire way. A final caution on lap 17 set up a 3
lap dash with Parker holding on to win his first feature of the
season. Siefert slipped by LaCrosse out of the final turn to take
the runner up spot. Scribner took fourth with Brian Mullen, also
from the back of the field taking fifth. Muenster rounded out the
top six.
Tom Naeyaert set the pace for the first 2 laps of the Late Model
feature with Pate Parker taking over the top spot on lap 3. Parker
opened a lead until a couple cautions bunched the 22 car filed on
lap 9. Troy Springborn moved into the runner up spot on lap 12 and
hounded Parker for the rest of the way. Justin Hirt, Nick Anvelink
and David Fieber were right behind. Fieber caught the front wall on
lap 17 setting up a 3 lap dash with Parker claiming his 115 career
feature win at Seymour. Springborn was a close second with Hirt,
Nick Anvelink, Craig Bartz and Terry Anvelink rounding out the top
six.
Calvin Stueck took the green and checked out early in the Sound
Check 4 Cylinder main, running way out front until a caution
appeared on lap 12. The restart saw the race for second run 4 wide
with Wayne Hansen, Jake Wilcox, Matt Frisch, and Ralph Liegeois door
to door which allowed Stueck a chance to pull away again. Andy
Kleczka broke through the pack in second place on lap 16 and one lap
later, a final caution erased the lead again for a 4 lap dash to the
finish. Stueck held off Kleczka for 2 circuits but Kleczka took the
white flag as the leader and drove on to win his first feature of
the season. Chad Guyette also caught Stueck for second. Ian
Lassanske came in fourth with Liegeois and Wilcox rounding out the
top six.
Next Sunday, the National Guard NASCAR show car driven by Casey
Mears will be on display behind the grandstand from 3 to 6 PM. Bring
a friend along to the races next Sunday night at the Seymour
Speedway.
