By Dave Panske

June 17, 2007; Seymour, WI - A hot, kind of muggy night greeted fans to a fast paced night of racing Sunday at the Seymour Speedway.

The Street Stocks took the track for their feature first with Mitch Landvick setting the pace for the opening lap before Mike Nehmer took charge. Nehmer opened a slight lead despite three cautions over the first 7 laps. Landvick brought out that final caution when he drifted up into and on top of the turn three and four wall. He came down on all four wheels and continued on but was out of the race.

Late Model #27 Justin Hirt became the first FasTrax Late Model to win a 2007 Seymour feature race last Sunday night. He earned the win by sticking his Late Model on the inside of the surface, and finding enough bite to get past race leader #10 Pete Parker on the final lap.51201b.jpg (17266 bytes)

With most cars on the top end of the smooth clay oval, Budweiser IMCA Mod
#10p Paul Parker chose a quicker lower groove in holding off #X Mike Wedelstadt as they went wheel-to-wheel briefly in their modified feature event Sunday night.

In an early race restart, Seymour's #17s Harley Simon slipped by feature race leader #5n Mike Nehmer, Oshkosh, and went on to his second consecutive Street Stock feature win. Jeremy Wiitala earned the runnerup spot with point leader Rod Solem in third.51201b.jpg (17266 bytes)
SOUND CHECK 4 CYLINDERS   #38  Jake Wilcox won his first ever Seymour division feature Sunday Night.51201b.jpg (17266 bytes)
Sound Check 4 Cylinder #22B Kevin Birr could not hold his car low enough to keep #38 Jake Wilcox from the pass and the
win. The win was special for Wilcox, taking his first career feature win. Birr fell back to finish third to Wilcox and eventual runnerup R.J. Liegeois.

On the restart, Harley Simon slipped by Nehmer into the lead and with the green out to the finish, Simon pulled away for his second straight feature win. The cars were bunched behind the leader running three and sometimes four wide. Jeremy Wiitala was able to secure the runner up spot at the finish with point leader, Rod Solem in third, Todd Everard fourth, David Hoerning fifth and Bill Kelsey sixth.

After an opening lap caution in the Tri County Heating IMCA Stock Car feature. It went non stop with John Heinz taking control after the restart and ran out front the rest of the way. Kyle Wanner, Larry Karcz, Jr, Rod Snellenberger, Rick Mahlberg and Kyle Fredrick bunched up behind, running much like the street stocks for awhile, three and four wide. Once the pack straightened out, they leaders all went high and hooked up on the outside line running the wall for the rest of the race. They could not reel in the leader and Heinz collected his first feature win here since June 22, 2003. Karcz was next in line followed by Snellenberger, Troy Jerovetz, Wanner and Mahlberg.

The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds took the green for their feature and many in the 24 car field quickly hooked up on the outside line running the wall. Jason Czarapata took the early lead and set the pace for the first 8 laps with heavy pressure from Scott Mullen and Paul Parker. Czarapata was able to hold off both in a wild battle for the lead. Parker made a daring hard drive to the inside of turn one on lap 9, and then drifted right up to the wall in turn 2. He was able to keep control and ended up as the leader Czarapata tried to regain the lead in turn 2 but slipped up a bit and allowed Mike Wedelstadt, Jared Siefert and Mullen to sneak by. The running order settled into rhythm until Mullen had his car break lose on lap 16 and slid into the infield in turn one slamming one of the barriers near the light poles. He was not hurt in the incident but out of the race. Parker stayed in control for the rest of the way to become the first repeat feature winner this season. Wedelstadt held off Siefert for the runner up spot. Brian Mullen came in fourth with Benji LaCrosse taking fifth and Czarapata rounding out the top six.

Tom Naeyaert took control of the Late Model main at the start and opened a lead while Justin Hirt and Pete Parker battled early for the runner up spot. While Parker was trying to get around Hirt, it allowed Naeyaert to continue to pull away from the field. Parker finally hooked up on the outside with Hirt hugging the inside line. The pair then started to close the gap on the lead by the mid point of the non stop contest. By lap 14, the pair had reeled in the leader and the battle was on again. Hirt tried the inside line a couple times and on lap 17, got inside Naeyaert out of turn 2. As they both fought to hold the lead line. Parker was still running wide and was able to drive by both on the back chute to take the lead. Hirt moved into second and right up on the leader. Hirt was on the charge and as the white appeared, moved inside the former 6 time champ and even on the back chute. He controlled the final turn and came home first to win his first career Seymour feature. Parker was second followed by Naeyaert. David Fieber took fourth with Troy Springborn fifth and Craig Schueffner sixth.

The win by Hirt was also the first time a Fast Trak late model won the feature allowing him to collect the Challenge bonus $$$.

The Sound Check 4 Cylinders took the spotlight with Brad Lautenbach taking the lead for the first 3 laps before Kevin Birr took control. Chad Guyette, Jason Cornelius, R.J. Liegeois and Mark Gerrits were running right behind the leader. A final caution appeared on lap 12 with Birr still in control. Jake Wilcox made a quick move to the front on the restart and moved right behind the leader on lap 14. One lap later, Wilcox moved into the lead and was bale to hold on to take his first career feature checker. Liegeois came in second followed Birr, Guyette, Gerrits and Ralph Liegeois. Following the regular racing, the Mechanics had a chance to drive.

T.J. White drove his sons car to the win in the Street Stock division.

In the IMCA Stock Car event, the car owned by Dan Nelson, slammed the front wall right in front of the flag stand and into the fence. The car was nearly destroyed while destroying 7 sections of fence and ending the action for the night. The driver was not injured as the cables and wall kept the car track side.

This week, Baylake Bank will be sponsoring the Kids Coin Toss at 5:30 under the grandstand.
