July
1, 2007;
Seymour, WI - July started with a bang
Sunday night at the Seymour Speedway with 138 cars checking in, and
putting on a great show for a nice pre holiday crowd.
The Street Stocks took the track first and after a few cautions
early in the race, David Hoerning took over the lead after the final
restart on lap 8 after Bob Czarapata dropped out of the lead after a
brush with the wall.

LATE MODEL #32 Terry Anvelink walked off with his third feature
win of the season Sunday night. It was also his 35th career
N.E.W. DIRT feature win.

Late Model #32 Terry Anvelink took the inside away from a strong
#9 Tom Naeyaert for the lead on lap 15. Anvelink took off
and won his 3rd feature of the season.
BUDWEISER IMCA
MODIFIED #22 David Werbelow won his first career feature at the
Seymour Speedway Sunday night.
Budweiser IMCA
Modified front runners #34 Chad Wilcox and #22x David Werbelow
came down to a faster line...inside or out.
Werbelow had the car to go to the bottom and able to get inside
and take the lead. Jerovetz came up to challenge Wilcox over the
final lap which gave Werbelow a chance to streak to his first
career Seymour feature win.
Tri-County
Heating IMCA Stock Car #50f Kyle Frederick could only shadow #10
Rod Snellenberger as "Hot Rod" completed the non stop race in
front and picked up his fourth feature win of the season here.
Fredrick flashed by in second. The win also completed a weekend
sweep for Snellenberger having victories on Friday in Luxemburg
and Saturday in Shawano.
Street Stock #19x
David Hoerning lost the lead to #17s Harley Simon as Simon was
able to hold a line inside and worked to the front on lap 14 and
eventual fourth straight win. Hoerning was able to hold on
to finish third behind Jeremy Wiitala.
SOUND CHECK 4
CYLINDER #22 Kevin Birr won his second feature of the season
Sunday night at the Seymour Speedway.

Sound Check 4
Cylinder racers #22B Kevin Birr survived 20 laps of intense
racing, taking the race lead away from #33G Chad Guyette. Birr
recorded his second feature win of the season. |
Hoerning set the pace with Joe Johnson, Bill Kelsey, Jeremy
Wiitala, Andy Paluch and Harley Simon bunched behind. The field
remained very tight as they tried to maneuver for position. Hoerning
had trouble holding tight to the inside and continued to give
openings to the cars behind. Simon was able to hold a line inside
and worked to the front and was able to take over the top spot on
lap 14, with Wiitala following right behind. The pair pulled away
from the pack slightly in a battle for the lead. Simon was able to
hold off the challenges and collected his fourth straight feature
win with Wiitala right behind. Hoerning was bale to hold on to
finish third with Kelsey fourth, Paul White fifth and Johnson sixth.
Following the race, White refused a claim which moved Matt Drawenek
into sixth.
John Heinz sprinted from the third row into the lead on the opening
lap of the Tri County Heating IMCA Stock Car feature and was able to
open a lead as the rest of the field sorted out behind. Brian Koch,
Barry Van Straten, Larry Karcz, Jr, Kyle Fredrick, Mike Wietor and
Rod Snellenberger made up the immediate challengers. By lap 5, Karcz,
Fredrick and Snellenberger were in position to start to reel in the
leader. The trio really put on a show swapping positions several
times while moving right behind the leader on lap 8.
Karcz was able to take the inside line into the lead briefly with
Fredrick taking the outside line to take the top spot for 3 laps.
Snellenberger made sure Karcz new there was company close behind for
a couple laps finally getting the inside line on leader on lap 15.
Snellenberger completed the non stop race in front and picked up his
4th feature win of the season here. Fredrick flashed by in second
with Troy Jerovetz and Greg Gretz able to sneak by Karcz on the
final lap with Heinz finishing the run in sixth.
The win also completed a weekend sweep for Snellenberger having won
Friday in Luxemburg and Saturday in Shawano.
A strong field of cars took the green for the Budweiser IMCA
Modified feature with Todd Dart taking control for the opening lap.
Jamie Schmidt was hugging the inside line and was able to hold the
lead with Dart right alongside for the next 5 laps. Tim Van De Hei,
Chad Wilcox, David Werbelow, Danny Deau, Paul Parker and Sean
Jerovetz were tight behind.
Schmidt was still the leader at the mid point of the non stop race
with Van De Hei , Wilcox and Werbelow still in tight pursuit. Wilcox
was working the outside line and moved into second on lap 11 and 2
laps later was in the lead. Werbelow was able to make a move into
the runner up spot 2 laps later and set sights on the leader. As the
field came out of turn 4 to get the white flag, Werbelow was able to
get inside and take the lead. Jerovetz came up to challenge Wilcox
over the final lap which gave Werbelow a chance to streak to his
first career feature win here. Jerovetz managed to wrestle second
from Wilcox with point leader, Jared Siefert able to inch by Schmidt
for 4th. Van De Hei held on to round out the top six.
All 20 starters finished the race with all on the lead lap.
The Late Models would not be outdone as they recorded a non stop
feature as well. Jeff Curtain set the pace for the opening 3
circuits with Tom Naeyaert moving inside and taking control of the
race on lap 4. Naeyaert was able to open a lead while Troy
Springborn, Curtain, Terry Anvelink, Craig Schueffner and Pete
Parker battled for position behind. By lap 9, Springborn and
Anvelink were ahead of the pack and started to close the gap on the
leader.
By lap 13, Anvelink was on the move and took second and in 2 laps
was inside Naeyaert for the lead. Anvelink took off and won his 3rd
feature of the season. Springborn was able to take the runner up
spot with 2 laps left. Parker came up to challenge Naeyaert on the
final lap and at the finish line was scored in 3rd. Naeyaert was
4th, Schueffner 5th and Nick Anvelink 6th.
The Sound Check 4 Cylinders had trouble over the first ˝ of their
feature with several cautions keeping the field very tight. Chad
Guyette was able to lead the first 5 laps with Kevin Birr taking
charge on lap 6. Birr led through a final caution on lap 10, but was
docked 2 positions before the restart, giving the lead back to
Guyette.
Birr took 2 laps to regain the lead and once in front powered ahead
to record his second feature win of the season. Point leader, Ian
Lassanske, caught Guyette with 2 laps left and finished second.
Guyette settled for third with Ralph Liegeois, Jake Wilcox and Mark
Kuhfuss rounding out the top six.
The crown was able to enjoy a big pre 4th fireworks show to end the
night.
Next Sunday, Kelsey Coatings will be sponsoring the nights
activities with all Scouts admitted free. There will be a bus race
next week with the added attraction of Fast Lane Johnny and Rudy’s
Wheelie Bus.
