July 8, 2007; Seymour, WI - It was a truly Sizzling Summer Sunday at the Seymour Speedway and there was plenty of hot racing action as well.

The Street Stocks took to the track first for their feature with Paul White taking the lead at the start followed by Todd Everard, Mitch Landvick, Jamie Van Ooyen, Bob Czarapata and Rod Solem. Everard hooked up on the outside and pulled into the top spot on lap 4. Van Ooyen took the inside line and moved right behind the new leader.

BUS RACE feature winner, Jon Ashcraft of Oshkosh.

By the mid point of the race, Solem had moved to the runner up spot with Van Ooyen now battling with David Hoerning and Harley Simon for third. Solem was running the outside line and for several laps the battle for the lead was a side by side duel with Solem inching into the lead on lap 15, but Everard was able to pull back into sole possession before the final caution appeared in the race on lap 17.

Solem, Van Ooyen, Simon, Jeremy Wiitala and Hoerning were lined up behind. As the field picked up the white flag, the left rear tire on Van Ooyens mount had gone flat and caused his car to break lose in the pack in turn 1. As the field scrambled, the final caution appeared and ended the race a lap early with Everard getting his second feature win of the season. Solem had his last lap run at the leader cut short and finished second with Simon taking third, Wiitala fourth, Joe Johnson and White rounding out the top six.

Brian Ambrosius grabbed the opening lap lead in the Tri County Heating IMCA Stock Car feature with John Heinz taking over the top spot on lap 2. Jay Matthias moved into second and was working on the leader with Kyle Frederick charging on the outside line and picked off both to take charge on lap 5. Once in front, Frederick checked out and was a ¼ lap ahead of the field when the final caution dropped on lap 12. Heinz made a move at the leader on the restart, but was quickly tied up with Kyle Wanner, Greg Gretz, Troy Jerovetz and Rod Snellenberger, which allowed Frederick to again open a lead that he carried to his first feature win of the season. The race for second remained tight to the finish with Gretz able to take the runner up spot with Jerovetz, Heinz, Snellenberger and Wanner rounding out the top six.

The Late Models were up next and Terry Anvelink charged into the lead at the drop of the green and opened a huge lead before Pete Parker was able to wrestle the second spot from Troy Springborn on lap 6. Parker slowly started to close the gap on the leader and in the second half of the non-stop contest, looked like there would be a battle for the lead before the end. However, lapped traffic came onto play and was spaced just enough to allow Anvelink to negotiate through and win his second straight and division leading 4th feature win this season. Parker was alone in second with Springborn back in third. Craig Schueffner was fourth followed by Jarrod Anvelink, driving brother Nick’s late model for the night, and Justin Hirt, rounding out the top six.

After an opening lap incident, the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds went to the finish with a tight field throughout the event. Zach Drews settled into the early lead with Eric Mullen, M.J. Hintz, Paul Parker, Jarrod Anvelink, Jason Czarapata and Tim Van De Hei right behind. While the field battled behind, Drews was able to open a big lead. Anvelink, hooked up on the outside and took over the runner up spot on lap 4 and began the task of closing in on the leader. Just after half way, Anvelink was moving behind the leader and was able to secure to top spot on lap 14. By that time, the rest of the field had sorted out a bit and were closing on the leaders. Van De Hei moved up to battle Drews for second after Anvelink checked out and held on to win his first career feature. Van De Hei was able to take the runner up finish on the final lap and Drews took third. David Werbelow was fourth with Brandon Czarapata, making his first run here this season, took fifth ahead of cousin, Jason Czarapata.

Shawn Klapps, Jr led the opening 2 rounds of the Sound Check 4 Cylinder feature with Jamie Miller taking a one lap shot at the lead on lap 3. Calvin Stueck took charge on lap 4 and opened a lead as the field started to sort out behind. Kevin Birr moved into second on lap 8 and set out after the leader. Birr closed the gap and used the inside line to take over the top spot on lap 12. Birr also was able to open a lead on the field but over the final 5 laps, Jeremy Czarapata moved up with Stueck and the pair closed in on the leader for a tight 3 way battle to the finish with Birr able to hold off the challengers for his second straight feature win and third overall for the season. Czarapata edged Stueck for the runner up finish with Jason Cornelius, Miller and Tony Everard rounding out the top six.

Jon Ashcraft bested the field taking the checker in the Bus Race and Rudy’s Wheelie Bus successfully completed 2 laps doing a Wheelie around the Speedway.

There will be NO regular racing program at the Seymour Speedway next Sunday because of the Outagamie County Fair. However, there will be a Compact Double Figure 8 race at 1 PM Sunday afternoon followed by the usual Demolition Derby and Combine Demo to close the fair Sunday night.

Racing resumes with a full 5 division program at the Seymour Speedway on Sunday July 22.
