April 23, 2008; Seymour, WI - Seymour-N.E.W. DIRT is set to unveil their 2008 season this Sunday, April 27, with the second annual Car Show and Practice. The event will kick off the clubs 25th Anniversary season at the Seymour Speedway.

The Car Show is open to any Show or Race Car with a donation to the local food pantry as the fee for registration. In leau of a food donation, a $5.00 donation will be accepted and distributed with the other collections.
Registration is open from 9 to 12 noon. With the Car Show open until 4 PM. The Show will be held in the front of the fairgrounds around the grandstand. Concessions will be available for those that wish to spend the day. Awards will be presented at 3 PM.

Following the Car Show, attention will shift to the race track as the club will host an open practice session for anyone interested in shaking their cars down prior to the season opener to be held on Sunday night, May 4. The grandstand will be open FREE of charge for those fans wishing to watch.

This is the first event of a busy 23 event schedule for 2008. There will be 21 weekly Sunday night programs and 1 Friday night event that will feature the Badger Racing Motorcycles. This is being held in conjunction with the second annual Motorcycle show and swap meet at the fairgrounds in mid August.

There will be some changes for the weekly programs this season.

For the first time in the clubs history, the Late Models will not be part of the weekly programs. The Fastrack sanctioned division will compete is a series of 7 races. The events will earn drivers national touring points and will also count towards a season track champion as well. They will close the season with a Regional Special on September 20.

The growing IMCA Sport Mod division will be part of the weekly programs in which the late models do not be participate in. The IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, IMCA Stock Cars and 4 Cylinders will make up the balance of the weekly programs.

Each division will have a special night with increased purse and division introductions.

The Street Stocks will also be running a Super Street Stock Series of 6 races in conjunction with the Friday night program at the Chilton Speedway. Points will be tallied for a separate series point fund. Cars will also earn weekly track points on those nights.

Anticipation is high for the return of the IRA Sprints on Sunday August 31. Last years event was the only race in which the feature went flag to flag and the drivers wanted a return engagement on the 1/3 mile banked oval.

This is the Labor Day weekend and the race will have a Monday, September 1 rain date if needed.

The weekly events will see the pit gates open at 3 PM with the grandstand at 4:30. Racing starts at 6 PM every Sunday night.

Admission prices remain unchanged with adults $10.00, seniors 55+ $7.00, 13 – 18 $7.00, kids 12 and under are FREE with a paid adult.
